Lapis Lazuli has become popular within these years, and the market has been competitive worldwide. This has lead the production of imitation of Lapis in mass, originally created in Europe, now produced and marketing mainly from China. These imitations are unlike the usual created in plastic and glass, but are stones that are dyed very carefully, making it extremely difficult to identify to the ordinary eye. There are rumours about polish fading out from the imitations, but that is not so. That just proves the level of quality of the polish, where original Lapis are also polished. However, there are licensed connoisseurs who can identify and issue certificates for stones.
